Frequently asked questions about Hammocks
Q: I have a couple of questions.... First, could you explain the difference between a hammock like the one shown and a hammock with the wooden slats at the head and foot of the hammock? I would think the hammock would be more comfortable, but do the slats make it more comfortable for two people? Secondly, do these hammocks come in other colors and what material are they made of? I have a 15 foot opening, this would work with some ingenuity?
A: Hi, In a Mayan hammock you are the spreader because you lay diagonally in the hammock bed. It sounds a little strange but it is much more comfortable and stable than the wood bar type. The finer strings of the mayan style also distribute the pressure more evenly than the larger ropes of the alternative. This holds true even for two people, especially when it comes to stability. 2 people in a Mayan hammock is much cozier and romantic. With a 15ft. span you can hang the ends a little higher. It won't be a problem.
